“This is the skin I was given. This is what I look like, I’m sorry.” This statement highlights the sad state of the fashion industry. The short documentary, “The Colour of Beauty” highlights how little the fashion industry has evolved in terms of diversity. When casting agents say they want “a” black model but they must look like “white girls dipped in chocolate,” I feel like I’ve gone back in time. But the truth is that these are exclusionary beliefs expressed in present day America. Please take some time to watch this short documentary and let me know what you think.
