ABOUT VALERIE

Several years ago I suffered a serious illness, which was worsened by an “overdose” of an ingredient commonly used in shampoo. As I learned more about the potentially harmful ingredients in many skin care products I became concerned for my health and began to make my own skin care ‘concoctions’ at home. My health crisis meant that my own self-care was the most important thing in my life. I knew that I wasn’t alone and wanted to provide safer cosmetics to others in search of healthier makeup alternatives and diverse foundation shades.

My educational and professional background is in Sociology, and Fashion Design and Merchandising. I truly enjoy studying and exploring anything artistic, other cultures, and my own culture. I have traveled extensively and in my travels I’ve shared my experiences and discovered that people of color around the world have the same frustrations I’ve experienced with skin care and color cosmetic products. Most people around the world have yellow/gold, red or olive undertones with various combinations of red and blue. Many major market cosmetics companies don’t provide color selections that address the wide range of skin tones and undertones among those with various shades of brown skin. One size does not fit all. In the area of natural organic skin care, product availability has been scarce…UNTIL NOW.

Now that I have discovered a natural mineral makeup formulation and color selection, I want to share.

Charitable work is a crucial part of building strong communities. Through Valana Minerals® and other entrepreneurial efforts, we have contributed to providing housing assistance, paid for school tuition, and school supplies for children and young adults in the U.S. and abroad. In addition to this, we donate to various charitable organizations. We are sharing this information because we want you to be inspired as we have.

We’ve listed links to some of our favorite charitable organizations. Each one works to address various aspects of the ‘human condition’ which include the need for food, shelter, and strong families.   • The Buckner Foundation provides a number of social services to all age groups around the world. Their work includes a program that provides shoes to needy children, day care programs for the elderly, parenting classes, and support of orphanages in several countries.   • The Heifer organization provides sustainable living programs through the gift of livestock and fowl.
